HTH Poolife Swimming Pool Start Up/Opening Guide

HTH POOLIFE Swimming Pool ChemicalsHTH POOLIFE Swimming Pool Chemicals

To take advantage of all that your pool offers, the most important step is to get your pool water in pristine condition.  Bringing the water into proper ‘balance’ should be the first thing you do when opening your pool for the season.  Just follow these simple steps for sparkling, clean water throughout the season.
Preparing the Equipment

Warm Climates:
For warmer climates, opening a pool in the Spring is relatively simple.

1.  If you have covered your pool for the winter, now is the time to remove it and clean with POOLIFE Cover Cleaner before storing it away for the season.

2.  Brush the pool and give it a good shock treatment with  HTH POOLIFE TurboShock.

3.  Test the water and bring all the readings into the proper range using our online water tester.

4.  Wait the recommended time and your pool is ready for your full enjoyment
.

Cooler Climates:

If the winter could transform your pool into a skating pond (or almost), you have a little more work to do

1.  Remove any water or debris that has accumulated on your pool cover.

2.  Take off your pool cover.  Be sure to clean it thoroughly before storing (Try our POOLIFE™ Cover Cleaner).  Otherwise the cover may mildew.

3.  Hook up the pool pump and filter.  Reconnect any hoses and electric connections that may have been detached.  Follow manufactures directions.

4.  Be sure your skimmer, filter, pumps, drains, and any other equipment are clean and free of debris.  Follow manufacturers’ directions.

5.  Use a leaf skimmer to scoop up all surface and submerged debris.

6.  If your pool walls are dirty, you should clean them with a brush immediately.

7.  Bring the pool water up to the proper level, about 3 to 4 inches above the bottom of the skimmer flap.

8.  Make sure all your hoses and electrical hookups are in order.  Follow manufacturers directions.

9.  Turn on your filter pump.

10. Check the skimmers, bottom drains, and filters to make sure they are functioning properly.

11. Vacuum any remaining debris to waste.

Preparing the Pool Water

1.  Test your pool water.  Use our Water Testing feature to help determine your pool water’s needs.

2.  Make any necessary adjustments.  See “Water Balancing” for assistance.

3.  Shock treat the pool water using your preferred POOLIFE™ Shock.

4.  Add POOLIFE™ Stabilizer/Conditioner to the water if needed.
